A hot, late-summer afternoon. The sun bleaches the brick outside my office windows. The air inside is still, a little heavy. The room is hotter than I like - the building is old, the windows uninsulated, providing a committed and ongoing rebellion against the air conditioning.

There’s a draft budget to revise for a potential campus in Detroit - and then the larger FY2026 budget to revise to reflect the possible scenarios created by such a significant change.
There are applicant resumes to review for 3 open positions.
The balls of my feet hurt a bit from these new shoes.
There’s a PR plan to review and provide feedback on.
I’m not sure what to get my nephews for Christmas.
I haven’t tended to the leaking in the basement at home. I will likely forget until the next storm reminds me.
We currently don’t have nearly enough funding for all the High School kids that want to enroll in the New Haven campus for this year - I’ve got maybe 4 weeks left to figure out how to not say no to them.
This tea is beautiful and warm and satisfying—even in hot weather, warm tea is a direct link to eternity.
Our adult students will start arriving soon, and the space will begin to buzz and vibrate from the collective energy. I picked up a great new dumb “dad joke” last night that I’m looking forward to springing on them today.
It’s a chest and tri’s day at the gym tonight. And sauna, definitely sauna.
I can smell today’s crockpot of soup that is being prepared. I’m looking forward to eating with the students and the staff.
Freya, the campus dog, is standing outside my door, staring at me through the glass.
